A message from our Head of School
radford Christian Academy is a dynamic community of students, teachers, and alumni who are making a difference in the world. Whether learning in the classroom, performing on the stage, competing in a sport, or serving in the community, Bradford teaches the importance of self-discipline, hard work, creativity, and interdependence. Our students graduate prepared to succeed in the finest colleges in our country, equipped with thought-out, lived-out faith in God, and determined to use their knowledge and talents to make the world a better place.
Bradford’s elementary program, launched in September 2013, extends our commitment to quality academics taught in small classes to younger learners. Students acquire the building blocks of literacy through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They develop an understanding of numerical patterns and relationships with hands-on experiences. Students connect with the living and physical world by applying the scientific method and observation to scientific concepts and with the local and global community through history, geography, and foreign language studies. Students’ imagination and physical development are nurtured through art, music, theatre, dance, and athletics. Woven throughout our program is the opportunity to connect all of life’s experiences to a deeper understanding of God and his love for all people and his creation. Our commitment to an individualized approach with each child makes it possible for advanced students to progress and widen their skills and for struggling students to receive individual support within the same small group setting.
Bradford’s middle school program secures elementary school learning and lays the foundation for high school. Foreign language studies in Spanish or Latin are part of our students’ daily schedule. Middle school students take electives such as instrumental music, chorus, and art while also participating in clubs and Community Groups. We showcase the talents of our middle school students in our school-wide Christmas and spring concerts as well as our spring theatre production. Our middle school soccer and basketball teams compete in regional private school leagues.
Bradford offers high school students diverse experiences that give them depth and breadth as people. We provide three academic levels including numerous honors level and Advanced Placement classes. Our extensive elective class offerings, award-winning theatre program, competitive athletics, chorus, student government, National Honor Society, clubs, and international mission trips give students meaningful and varied involvement in the school community. Throughout high school, we carefully craft each student’s college application resume based on the student’s unique gifts and interests. We see the success of our program as excellent colleges actively recruit our graduates.
Visitors to our school often comment on the warmth and fun they sense here. Bradford is a community where students feel cared about and like they belong, where lifelong friendships are forged, and where friendships across grades, between faculty and students, and among families are part of our everyday experience. I hope your visit to Bradford through our website informs you and inspires you to visit us in person. Whether you participate in one of our Welcome Wednesday events, enjoy a play or sporting event, or schedule an appointment for a personal tour, we look forward to meeting you soon!
