Taking Extraordinary Steps

[dropcap type=”circle” color=”#f4f3ea” background=”#d3ac2b”]B[/dropcap]radford Christian Academy’s leadership has developed a four-phase development process to move us toward completing our campus plan over the next decade:

PHASE1PURCHASE AND PREPARE LAND

Our real estate committee is evaluating several properties with the goal of purchasing at least 15 acres of land in close proximity to our lower school to become the permanent home for our middle and high school. In addition to acquiring the land and installing basic infrastructure such as driveways, power, and water, Phase 1 will also create some facilities for immediate use. Amenities under consideration are a soccer field, cross-country trails, and an outdoor learning lab.

PHASE 2UPPER SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION, STAGE 1

The first stage of construction will create 16 classrooms, a gymnasium/multi-purpose room, and a studio theater. Initially, we will house grades 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in this space. Middle and high school grades will occupy their own wings.

The classrooms will give our students:

  • Two state-of-the-art science labs that enable interaction among science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines
  • Adaptable classrooms with flexible furniture for students to collaborate, learn, and connect
  • Robust technology infrastructure pervasive throughout the entire learning environment

The gymnasium/multi-purpose room will connect to the classroom building and will house two basketball courts for use in physical education and athletic programs.

The studio theater will provide a flexible creative space for theater, dance, vocal, and instrumental arts programs with designated rehearsal areas as well as performance space for some of the school’s productions. The size of two classrooms, the theater will be outfitted with movable seating, stage platforms, sound, and lights, and will hold approximately 100 people.

PHASE 3UPPER SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION, STAGE 2

The second stage of upper school construction will complete the upper school building. New features will include six additional classrooms, doubling the size of the studio theater, and the completion of athletic facilities and fields.

PHASE 4MIDDLE SCHOOL AND COMMON SPACES

By phase four, our student enrollment will create the need to construct a separate middle school building on the property to serve grades 6 through 8. This building will share the athletics, arts, and student commons areas with the high school. In this phase we will also construct designated fine arts space, a student commons/cafeteria, and a parent cafe.
