Middle School at Bradford Christian Academy

Grades 6–8

A time for taking on more responsibility with the help of mentors and positive influences.

Middle school is a time of big changes and transitions — cognitively, socially, and emotionally. As a parent, you want to be sure your child is on track academically while also being supported by their school community and peers. You know they still need nurturing at this age, but they also need enough independence to be able to grow and develop into self-sufficient young adults.

At Bradford Christian Academy, we’ve intentionally designed our middle school program to encourage students to start taking more responsibility for their work and learning as they move on from elementary school, while also being supported by our Christ-centered culture, community, and curriculum as they prepare for high school. Below, you’ll find a brief overview of what we offer, including:

Building a culture of respect and responsibility.

During middle school, students learn to navigate conflict and build healthy relationships. We guide our students through this process by teaching them to:

Honor themselves and each other.

Small class sizes and a close-knit campus community allow our middle schoolers to be known and valued as the unique individuals God created them to be.

Form authentic relationships.

BCA fosters a sense of community to help students develop a shared sense of empathy and encouragement. Bullying is not tolerated, and students are taught they are responsible for their own behavior, as well as the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.

Develop character.

Each school day begins with prayer and chapel lessons that teach key biblical principles that encourage students to live a life based on the absolute truth of God’s Word. Serving others is part of our culture as each middle school student participates in community service.

Make wise choices.

At BCA, every event is a learning opportunity, and our school environment has clear routines and expectations that help limit misconduct. Students are surrounded by adults whose lives bear witness to the presence of Christ, and all of BCA’s teachers, administrators, coaches, and staff are people of faith.

You want your kids to love where they go to school, to be around good people, to come home happy, to enjoy the work they’re doing. [With my sons’ experience at BCA] It makes everything joyful and it puts a positive spin on everything we do as a family. It’s not just a place to learn math, science, or English — the teachers feel it is their calling to make sure these kids are not only educated, but growing up to be good people.

A Rigorous Curriculum

BCA’s Christ-centered curriculum helps prepare students for high school. Through hands-on learning, students develop critical thinking skills and are able to connect ideas across different academic disciplines. Our faculty acknowledges each student’s unique cognitive development.

Inquiry-Based Learning

Students are encouraged to bring their curiosity, imagination, and academic learning together as they develop the reasoning and logic skills needed for success in high school and beyond. Reading comprehension and asking higher level questions help foster these critical thinking skills.

STEM Projects

Regular STEM projects allow students to solve problems by utilizing skills and principles learned in math, science, and technology classes. They design, engineer, and create projects that foster learning real-life skills such as collaboration and team problem solving.

Performing & Visual Arts

Budding performers can participate in our after-school theater program, which produces at least one production each year. Our choir and band perform in two concerts each year. Students studying artistic media in our visual arts classes display their work each year at our spring arts festival.

Competitive Athletics

Our middle school Sentinels compete in cross-country, basketball, soccer, and track and field. Coaches mentor student athletes in teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-discipline, and stay dedicated to coaching the person first and the athlete second to prepare young people for life on and off the court or field.

A Safe Place to Learn and Grow

BCA’s middle school is located on our upper school campus, nestled in the Riverwalk Innovation District of Lawrence, MA. The Riverwalk Innovation District is a community of small businesses, banks, health care, residential apartments, restaurants, and shops. Our building is located next to a 24-hour security office and a police station and holds 25,000 square feet of classrooms, science labs, and multi-purpose spaces for grades 6 through 12.
